Internet, I am a fireball of excitement, even though my should-have-been-winning sweepstake team, Spain, were knocked out of the bloomin football by Russia today say whaaaat? Nonetheless I cannot be got down, as this afternoon I booked my 30th birthday treat with Will, and bloody hell I. cannot. wait.
If any of you have ridden the on and off rollercoaster which is this little blogspot, you might remember two and a half years ago I surprised Will with a trip to New York. I literally met him for lunch with a suitcase I had packed with his clothes, and told him we were getting on a flight to the big apple. It was amazing, and I know he sort of wanted to do a huge surprise for me but then he was being all indecisive and got me to make the final decision and I am so glad he did. Mainly because I love all the control and planning, but also, now I have almost 2 months to just get more and more excited.
As we've been away quite a lot this year (24 hours in Tokyo blog post coming soon, hopefully) we've decided to trade air miles for luxury and are going here - we're staying in a hut which is also a suite with a roll top bath one night, and then the next we're staying in the posh manor where a michelin starred chef will design us an individual menu. Annndd it is 25 minutes from Stratford upon Avon so I am hopeful we can squeeze in some Shakespeare on the way home. I KNOW. Can I even think of 3 bad things for this post, when my mind is so clouded by pure elation and anticipation of all the food, and spa, and chill time? (Spoiler: Yes)
9 nice things June
3 nice material things
- A string of pearls plant that I bought at Columbia road flower market today. Will has told me to throw it away as I will most likely kill it and then it will attract flies, which statistically is likely, but I have high hopes. (edit, just realised that technically this is a purchase in July, but let me off k?)
- This striped Zara dress, £29.99 in the sale, which again Will is not very enthused about and says looks like I am wearing a nightie, but I feel chic, and more importantly super breezy and cool in it
- These grey leather sliders, £88, Free People. As easy to slip on as flip flops, but just a bit classier. (side note: Will also hates these so not his 3 nice things fosho)
3 nice things on the internet
- This cashew crunch salad with sesame dressing recipe
- Some funny and clever insight into Melania Trump's outfits
- Baby tripadvisor, technically from the end of May, but made me lol.
3 nice things in the world
- We are having a super sunny summer so far, how great is this weather?
- Having a haircut which you don't feel the need to go home, wash and immediately re-style yourself.
- Preparing a message for an old friend who is a bride to be, and finding pictures of you in braces with too short fringes and light eyeshadow with no mascara. Aww, and also thank goodness I found liquid eyeliner.
3 not so nice things (as my world is not as perfect as this corner of the internet alludes to it being)
- I've probably jinxed the weather by commenting on how good it is
- I bought tickets for a power ballads night in Camden with pals like the cool kid I am, but literally went home at 9pm after finishing my wahaca, and never made it even north of the river. Cool, crazy, insta-storyable London night missed.
- I smashed my 2 month old phone, and not even so badly that I can replace it. (Although I am sort of banned from doing that now, as our content insurance sky rocketed after I made err 3 claims last year. Buy separate mobile insurance people!)
- And a 4th bonus, small bad thing. The Croatia and Denmark match has gone to extra time and I am now missing Love Island cos Will won't let me switch over. Waaaaaaaaa.
9 nice things in July
- I am going on holiday, one week today - Seville (and your 35 degree heat...) here I come!
- Hopefully more warm weather, or at the very least long light evenings
- Wimbledon! I am hoping to squeeze in a visit this week. Going for the atmosphere, pimms and strawberries tbh. C'mon Murray! (Wait Murray is playing right?)
- My little sister Emily is turning 28, bloomin love summer daytime family bbq celebrations. Especially when her boyfriend Alex is manning the grill. Yum.
- England are playing a football match, which isn't in the Group Stages of the World Cup. I mean, can't say more than that but that is something no?
- I am going to Dinosnores, the adult sleepover at the Natural History Museum, where you sleep under Dippy (or whoever has replace him whilst he goes on his UK tour?!)
- My friend Katherine is back from Australia for a couple of weeks.
- Thinking about getting tickets to this - a bbq tasting menu overlooking the Thames? Yes please.
- Free open air theatre and movies at Canary Wharf.
PS. More nice things, from previous nice months.
